Each biological hair strand on a person’s head has its own growth cycle, causing the strands to vary in length naturally. With natural hair growth, the hair strands with vary in length giving the hair a tapering effect at the ends and a natural layering throughout the hair.
A wig made with single-drawn hair retains the shorter hairs, imitating natural hair growth. This results in some tapering at the ends and a graduated, natural layering in the front.
Due to its realistic appearance, this type of wig is a popular choice. While these wigs may vary in density, they are a great option for those seeking a shorter, natural-looking wig.
A wig made with double-drawn hair undergoes a meticulous, labor-intensive process where approximately 75% of the shorter hairs, typically found in natural hair growth, are individually removed. These shorter strands are then replaced with longer strands, ensuring the uniformity of the desired length.
The result is a beautiful, uniform look with little to no tapering at the ends or front of the hair. A double-drawn hair wig is often considered the most luxurious due to its style versatility, allowing for a thicker hair appearance even in a lower density wig.
A wig with 50% of the shorter hair strands removed is also a labor-intensive process. While the results are not as uniform as a double-drawn hair wigs, they are more consistent than those of a single-drawn hair wigs.
