in lace and mesh systems, hair strands are carefully hand-tied or “knotted” onto the lace or mesh base. This process involves tying one hair at a time in some areas and 2-3 hairs at a time in others. Upon close inspection, these knots may be noticeable on your hairpiece. The visibility of the knots is influenced by several factors, including the color of your natural scalp, your hair color, and the shade of the wig cap or wig grip used. Darker hair colors, in particular, tend to make the knots more noticeable.
When knot bleaching is executed correctly, it subtly adjusts the color of the wig's root area. There remains a risk of the roots acquiring an undesirable brassy red hue if the process is mishandled. Improper execution holds the potential to detrimentally affect the entire wig, leading to irreversible damage.
Knot bleaching is a crucial step in creating the most natural-looking wig, especially with darker hair. Most companies delegate this task to the buyer due to its complexity. Although some offer minimal bleaching at the hairline, creating a natural-looking appearance, particularly at the hair part, can be challenging. It is essential to have proper knowledge and techniques.
Professionally bleaching the knots on a lace unit stands out as the optimal method for achieving an impeccably natural result. While alternative methods of concealment, such as makeup or specialized concealing markers exist, they tend to yield limited outcomes. Contrary to its apparent simplicity, knot bleaching for wigs demands considerable time and precision, leaving a minimal margin for error.
The bleaching process can compromise the integrity of the hair at its attachment points to the base, making it more fragile. This increased vulnerability may result in increased shedding and ultimately reduce the overall longevity of the wig.
We understand the importance of providing quality wigs that meet our customers' expectations.
Iron Butterfly, we bleach the knots on our wigs, extending approximately ½ inch from the hairline backward to achieve a natural-looking hairline. Additionally, we bleach the knots along the middle part line, in a span of 1 to 2 inches wide, and extending approximately 4 inches back from the hairline. This process ensures a natural-looking middle or a side part on either side.
At Iron Butterfly Wigs, we believe that every customer deserves the best service possible. That's why we offer personalized consultations and styling advice to ensure that our customers are completely satisfied with their purchase.
For an even more seamless and realistic appearance, consider pairing your wig with a flesh-colored silicone wig-grip headband. This combination enhances the overall undetectable look, further enhancing the wig's realism.
